ABOUT THE HOSPITAL

Hospital Overview

Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital is the representative teaching and research hospital of the Catholic University of Korea and the flagship of the Catholic Medical Center (CMC) — Korea’s largest healthcare network with 8 hospitals, 29 research centers, and approximately 6,500 beds. Originally founded as Korea’s first Catholic hospital on May 11, 1936, the current state-of-the-art facility opened in 2009 as a 22-story, 190,000-square-meter complex — the largest single-building hospital in Korea at the time.

The hospital operates 1,374 beds across 45 clinical departments and 25 specialized centers, treating approximately 7,256 outpatients and 1,175 inpatients daily. Its Blood and Marrow Transplantation Center ranks 5th in the world and 1st in Asia, having surpassed 11,215 cumulative stem cell transplant procedures with post-transplant survival rates 10-30% higher than US benchmarks.

Seoul St. Mary’s holds JCI accreditation continuously since 2010 (5th cycle achieved in 2022), was ranked 108th globally by Newsweek (2025), and is listed among Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals in 8 specialties: oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, urology, neurology, orthopedics, and pediatrics.
