Planning Your Medical Trip to Korea
Everything you need to know before traveling - pre-departure checklist, flights, accommodation, daily costs, and practical tips.
Pre-Departure Checklist
Start preparing 4-6 weeks before travel to ensure a smooth medical trip.
Tell us your medical needs. We match you with the right hospital and specialist and schedule your appointment.
Collect recent bloodwork, imaging (X-rays, MRI, CT scans), pathology reports, and medication lists from your current doctor.
Passport must be valid 6+ months. US/UK/EU/Canada/Australia: visa-free for 90 days. Others may need a C-3-3 medical visa.
Consider international travel medical insurance. Even without it, Korean out-of-pocket costs are often less than US costs with insurance.
Call your bank and credit card companies to inform them of travel to Korea. Confirm international spending limits - medical bills can be significant.
Papago (best Korean translator), KakaoTalk (Korea's messaging app), Naver Map (more accurate than Google Maps in Korea), KakaoT (ride-hailing).

Best Time to Visit
Korea has four distinct seasons. There's no wrong time for medical treatment, but some are more comfortable than others.
Spring (March-May)
10-22°C (50-72°F). Pleasant weather, cherry blossoms. Popular time - book early for best availability.
Summer (June-August)
25-35°C (77-95°F). Hot and humid. Monsoon season (late June-July). Manageable but not ideal for surgery recovery.
Autumn (September-November)
10-25°C (50-77°F). Beautiful weather. Ideal for combining a medical trip with sightseeing during recovery.
Winter (December-February)
-10-5°C (14-41°F). Cold and dry. Fewer tourists means potentially shorter wait times at hospitals.
